Chiapa de Corzo, in Chiapas, Mexico
Chiapa de Corzo is a colonial town located on the shores of the Grijalva River and at the mouth of the Sumidero Canyon. The centerpiece of the town is La Fuente Colonial (the Colonial Fountain) also known as La Pila. This fountain is a beautiful and rare example of Mudejar-style architecture. Known as 'La Pila' (The Basin), since it supplied water to the town, this fountain was designed and built by Father Rodrigo de León in 1562. Its octagonal shape has a structure formed by a vault supported by eight pillars.
